Whether you’re seeking a dimly-lit establishment or a night out with friends in a loud bar, there is a restaurant out there that offers the dining experience you’re craving. They say, “The first impression is the best” and this statement is quite applicable when it comes to dwelling places too. Be it a restaurant, the interior design of a place plays a significant role in creating a lasting impact.

As you walk into a restaurant, the first thing that gets your attention is the interior. As a customer, you will mainly choose a restaurant based on two factors – ambience and food. 1.Concept

A thorough understanding of the conceptual design framework is extremely crucial.

2.Architecture and Design

The architecture and design are the most important aspects of restaurant interior design. The way you design the inside and how you place all your elements plays an integral role in defining the look and the feel of your restaurant. It also has a major influence on customer experience because it includes planning the layout of your restaurant.

How spacious your restaurant will feel or how claustrophobic it will get during rush hours, all of this is dependent on the restaurant layout. It makes no sense for your joint to be beautiful if your servers cannot serve well and customers cannot feel comfortable in their own space.

There should be enough aisle space between the table for smooth movements. The restaurant layout should be designed in such a manner that everything, ranging from the tables and chairs to the restaurant equipment is accommodated with enough space for work and movement.

If the restaurant has an outdoor dining space, such as a deck or patio, the theme should also extend to those areas. Sturdy outdoor tables and chairs should be provided. Planters and small fairy lights can add additional ambience. In the outdoor dining area, a visual barrier should be provided

As it ensures the privacy of the diners. Also, be sure to include umbrellas or awnings, which are vital during the hot summer months for customer comfort.

4.Seating

Perfect seating arrangements can be determined by knowing the right target customers. Mix up the two, four, and six top tables according to the type of restaurant.  A perfect restaurant design should pay heed to the needs, demands, and privacy of every customer, and make arrangements of the tables accordingly. The restaurant layout should allow free movement of customers without having to struggle while passing from one place to another. The comfort level of furniture is also often used to encourage different dwellings.

5.Lighting 

Lighting is a much more important factor than many realize. In a public place such as a restaurant, it becomes even more important. The right lighting can enhance the furniture, hide flaws, and improve the customer’s overall dining experience.

Added to the above, illumination is the first thing that may attract a customer passing by. Bright attractive lighting can hook passersby with its warm welcoming appearance. Once they cross your threshold, the interior lighting continues to warm their minds and stomachs as well.

6.Acoustics

A restaurant engages all of the senses.  Certainly sight, smell, taste, and touch, but even sound is an important factor to keep in mind while designing. The noise levels in restaurants are different according to the crowd they pull, the design should consider those points. Places where we do or don’t hear the music and ambient noise can make an impact. Another example is nobody wants to listen to kitchen noise outside. Proper soundproofing is needed in these types of areas.

7.Color scheme

A skillfully used colour scheme can enhance the overall appearance of the place to another level. We can choose different colour options for different areas while still keeping the theme intact, giving different areas a new vibe.

8.Aroma

The aroma of a restaurant generally has significant features that you should not forget. The amazing strength of aroma easily leaves an impression in one’s mind. The accurate aroma has the retention power of past meal experience, where the person can come to that place where he enjoyed the delicious meal with an amazing smell.

The smell sent by human beings is very strong, and the aroma of your meal and beverages is the biggest example that influences your customers. Using a particular air freshener can make your customer spellbound.

Letting some smells float in from the kitchen can induce appetite. You can either go for an open kitchen for this or even manage ventilation in this manner. Another thing that you can do is go for artificial scents. Just like colours, different scents create different emotions in people.

9.Decor

Having art and decor in a restaurant can bring about a drastic change in its appearance. You can use paintings or ornamentations that can help the interiors stand out. Water is one of the best elements that can add life as well as create a sense of tranquillity. A fountain or aquarium can be experimented with.

10.Kitchen Design 

The placement of the kitchen should be as such that the process of serving food is easily done even in rush hours. Great importance should be given while placing seating arrangements near the kitchen as well, many restaurants have those bad tables where nobody wants to sit because it is nearby the door or washroom.
